After Covid-19 travel restrictions, STF Group completed the installation of its first virtual plastic recycling production line at its Lavergne factory in Haiti. #Sustainability

STF Group successfully installed a PET bottle washing and recycling line in Haiti. This production line is part of the HP Marine Plastics program.

Zimmer America Recycling Solution and its partner German STF Group successfully installed a PET bottle washing and recycling line of almost 1.1 tons/hour (2,400 lb/hour) in Haiti.

The company stated that this was done through daily online video conferences and benefited from the strong local technical support team of Haitian customers and the simple and effective production line and machine engineering of the STF Group.

This new plastic washing line in Haiti is part of the HP Ocean Plastics program, which focuses on the production of clean, high-quality recycled plastics for HP products, including original HP ink cartridges and the company's sustainable PC product portfolio. HP has invested US$2 million in this washing line, which is now fully operational.

Since 2016, Hewlett-Packard has been reducing Haitian's ocean plastics, and these efforts have transferred approximately 1.7 million pounds (771 metric tons) of plastic material — or more than 60 million bottles — to prevent these plastics from entering waterways and oceans. Of these, more than 485,000 pounds (220 metric tons) have been transferred from the ocean and upgraded to original HP ink cartridges.

STF Group stated that although this virtual installation is the first time, it will not be the last.

"Here" is September 21-23, Rosemont, Illinois, where the Molding and Extrusion Conference will be held under the same roof as the Amerimold trade show.

Almost all extrusion processes pass the melt through a wire mesh screen on its way into the die to provide filtration and improved mixing.

TP polyester has more functions than you think. You may know PET, PBT and PETG-but what about PCT, PCTG, PCTA and PTT? If you are not sure what they are, how their properties compare and who sells them, we have the answer-and many new development reports.
